The story of 200 year old GPO – General Post Office.

As would be with curious next gen kids, my daughters were keen to visit a post office – to understand the mode of communication prior to the one they know of now, pre-internet days.

And just like that we landed at this beautiful post office (“Dak Ghar” – as we address it in Hindi), located in South Mumbai, India. Besides being a more than 200 years old building, it is also a ‘Mahila Dak Ghar’, a post office entirely run by women staff that was inaugurated in 2013 to commemorate International Women’s Day.

To see is to believe. My daughters were hugely impressed and truly inspired.

Celebrating women and their contributions to the society is crucial, so let’s keep celebrating every opportunity. We have a generation to inspire!
